JibberJobber.com is a Webware 100 Finalist (this is huge news)
JibberJobber.com is a Webware 100 Finalist (this is huge news) A few years ago my friends at emurse were recognized by Rafe Needleman fro CNets Webware. Rafe is a big voice in the web 2.0, online space (webware is software for the web get it?), and having a mention in an article he did was a big part of emurse getting some good traction in the market. Shortly after I saw the article I contacted Rafe with something like hey, check us out were cool too! Im guessing Rafe gets pitched hundreds of times a day and has to sift through a lot of meaningless (or ill-prepared) pitches. I was flattered when he finally did a writeup about JibberJobber on webware in November of 2006 (wow, that was a LONG time ago!). Then, I heard about the Webware 100, which is a list of 100 of the best web apps (that is, applications, not just brochureware websites). Oh how I longed to be on that list I dont think I came close to making the cut, however, and when I saw the list of Webware 100 winners I knew I didnt have a snowballs chance in ______. Until 2009, that is. A buddy of mine submitted JibberJobber as a Webware 100 finalist and forwarded me what he submitted. I was flattered that my buddy (I wont name him here hes in New Jersey and knows who he is!) submitted JibberJobber, and really happy with what he wrote about JibberJobber in his nomination (hes been watching JibberJobber since the very early days). Of course I didnt think Id make any cuts but Rafe emailed me about a week ago and notified me that JibberJobber is a finalist! Oh man what a terrific honor! Considering how big the winners of past are, like Amazon, BlogTalkRadio, Google, Craigslist, ebay, PayPal, Skype, Opera, Yahoo, Woot, iPhone, YouTube, etc. I dont think I have a chance at all they have traffic and reach that is extraordinarily larger than my reach but let me just sit here super flattered, and elated, that we even made it in the cut from around 6,000 nominations down to the final 300. What a freaking cool honor. Now, just because I dont believe we wont win doesnt mean I wont ask for your vote if you have a minute to spare, please head over and vote for your favorite job search organizer er, I mean, career management toolset, er, I mean, personal relationship manager, er you know what I mean ?? Start with recognizing your intrinsic value and appreciate the value of your desire to change. Desire is the root of our actions and drives everything we do. So be committed to change and pursue your choice with a vengeance. Sometimes change requires an outsiders perspective to give us an unbiased view of ourselves. Surprisingly, a friend, parent, coach, therapist or significant other may see us more clearly than we can see ourselves. Most of us arent who or where we want to be so our best chance to achieve our goals is to find someone who can help guide us. Imagine who you want to become and visualize that person. Imagine yourself acting in a way that embodies the character traits of a person who you esteem. If you know someone who possesses these traits, study his/her behaviors and model them. As we begin changing ourselves we should always start from a place of loving yourself. We should all know that each of us is your special; Have we spent the time to become an expert on our individual greatness? Self-esteem is the prerequisite to begin the process of fixing ones flaws and becoming more fully actualized. Though it may be counterintuitive to focus on what makes us great when we are trying to solve problems which hold us back, it is the exact tack to take. While you might be able to generally describe what youâre good at itâs important to know specifically what it is that you can do better than anyone else especially when it comes to getting hired and getting promoted. Can you think of times youâve worked with a person to help them achieve their goals where it required more time and energy than you initially thought? Are you creative? Do you initiate novel ideas and follow through with them to achieve results? Are you a person that others come to for advice? Can you think of many times where you collaborated well with a group to achieve the goals of a firm? Do you tend to inspire other people to take action? Can you think of examples for when you brought people into a cause and got them excited to participate in getting a job done? In what areas are you generous? Do you give your time without expecting reciprocation? Are you strategic, a learner, relator, maximizer, analytic or passionate? If you already know that you possess some of these qualities, be able to articulate where youâve demonstrated them. If you donât have many examples to describe times youâve displayed these traits, start looking for opportunities to develop them. If youâre unsure of what your strengths are then the Gallup Strengths tests could help you define your strengths and identify a work setting and a job where youâll thrive. How To Develop Your Strengths? You can begin by looking for areas where you can anticipate a problem and help find a solution. You could begin at home doing something as mundane as household chores that otherâs have overlooked to exercise this âproblem solvingâ muscle. Then continue to look for challenges in your workplace and with volunteer work. The more you proactive you are about developing your character traits, the more authentic and compelling youâll be when it comes to showing your value to a perspective employer. The key is knowing which traits and skills are valuable to a particular sector and to a certain hiring manager. You can discern this by researching LinkedIn company pages, articles in the media on company news, and from reading personal profiles of candidates whoâve risen up in their firm. Itâs never too late to recognize your greatness and itâs also never too late to see where you can improve. All things being equal with respect to your grades and previous work experience and references, the scale will be tipped in your favor for getting hired if you can show that you are more aware of the hiring managers needs than any other candidate and that you have the skills and abilities to help the manager accomplish his goals. Make it about them more than about you! Stand out by learning to tune in to the ways you can apply your skills to assist them with specific challenges they face. But as soon as you sit down in front of your computer, the bitterness of coffee and your to-do list and triple-digit email inbox brings you back to reality.As you inhale the coffee (thatâs what I do anyway) you yawn some more due to the tolerance youâ ve up because your body is so used to high levels of coffee now. As you gulp down the cup, you wonder if itâs possible to OD on coffee.My Stomach Ulcer ProblemI certainly havenât heard of people ODing from coffee. What I have more personal experience with, however, is stomach ulcer. Yes, years of working in the corporate world has made me a seasoned marketer but also messed up my digestive system semi-permanently. You see, I got it by drinking coffee in the morning on an empty stomach for years. Probably since college days. I started having problems around late 2016 when things got pretty intense in my first job as a manager. First, I thought I was having just acid reflux because after meals I would often feel like I am so full that if I bent over I would vomit. After about 2 months of feeling this way, I went to a gastroenterology. And I had an endoscopy. The imaging told us that I developed these micro-abrasions in my stomach lining and they were the results of having over active production of stomach acid.I was instantly put on medication, a diet plan, and I had to stay off of coffee for at least 2 months. It was torturous and I had to switch to green tea which is total BS (LOL. Sorry, no offense to tea drinkers). But it worked. I also never drink coffee on an empty stomach anymore. Occasionally Iâd still get a flare up. I had been looking for something that would power me through during the mid-workday lull that we all go through! The drink tastes fruity, slightly sour, not very sweet (which I like!) and basically like vitamin water. So guys, hereâs the verdict. Iâve been drinking BrainGear drink for the last 2 months (not consecutively like they recommend though, I will explain la ter) and I have to say that it really does promote my overall focus and attention at work! Now Pay Attention to ThisBrainGear is really transparent with their ingredients. Even though the formula is patented, you can actually see everything that goes in this bottle. So you wonât need to worry about unknown or secret ingredients that you canât read up on!I donât drink it on an empty stomach like they recommend on the label. Everyoneâs digestive system is different, and like I said, mine is of the delicate sort. So I donât drink anything sour or acidic on an empty stomach out of principle.When I tried BrainGear the first time, I drank just 1/2 of a bottle. I did not drink any coffee that day or anything else that would change my energy level â" and I had very slight jitters. They went away relatively soon (within an hour) and it gave me the effect I was looking for. I would recommend anyone whoâs trying it for the first time to start small in terms of quantity. Slowly ease your way into the recommended level of consumption to the one label which is one bottle per day (4.5oz).How I Make It Drink It1. Prep orange slices at home. Freeze them overnight and bring them to work in a tupperware! 2. Find an adult sippy cup (OK fine tumbler!) like this one you see in the photos, make sure the bottle is glass so itâs see-through and the fruit slices on the inside will show! If youâre like me, beautiful things tend to help good habit stick better. So if your goal is to drink more water throughout the day, which itâs definitely one of my goals, you should get a bottle that supports that habit!3. If you choose to, find a filler like La Croix sparkling water. Or you can just use water. My addiction with La Croix is serious, guys. It satisfies my soda cravings and has zero calories, like what? How did you not win a Nobel Food Prize?? OK. Right. It doesnât existâ¦4. Pour BrainGear into the bottle and leave it in the fridge for about an hour. Fun fa ct: BrainGear tastes better when itâs cold! Then, itâs ready for you to drink!Thatâs it guys- if you ever do try BrainGear, can you tell me how you like it and how you drink it? Iâll let you in on a secret: I actually started carrying the small bottle with me in my purse. LOL. It almost feels like a flask. When Iâm too lazy to make the fancy drink, Iâll just carry the bottle with me take a little sip here and there throughout the day. I love it!
